Dermal fillers are made from Hyaluronic Acid, a substance that naturally occurs within the skin and exists to nourish and support the dermis and epidermis. With increasing age, smoking, alcohol, and extremes of temperature, our natural production of Hyaluronic Acid slows down, contributing to volume loss and lines – two of the classic signs of ageing.

DERMAL FILLERS CAN BE USED TO REDUCE LINES, WRINKLES OR FOLDS:

* You may wish to reduce lines or folds from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial treatment)

*You may have downturned mouth corners, or lines or folds from the corners of the mouth extending towards the jaw (marionette treatment)

*You may have developed vertical lines around the lips, into which your lipstick bleeds (perioral treatment)

DERMAL FILLERS CAN ALSO BE USED TO RESTORE OR CREATE VOLUME:

*Your mid and lower face may benefit greatly from restoration of lost volume in the cheeks (midface rejuvenation)

*You may have developed hollows beneath your eyes which trouble you (tear trough rejuvenation)

*You may have noticed your temples appear sunken, contributing to an aged appearance (temple restoration)

*You may wish to soften the appearance of excess skin at the jaw line (jowl rejuvenation)

Many different dermal fillers exist, your filler will be chosen based on the depth of your lines and the result you would like to achieve.

The filler is presented in a pre-filled syringe and – following the application of a topical anaesthetic cream – is slowly injected into the skin beneath your troublesome lines.

The result is immediate, and depending on the product used and your lifestyle you should expect to continue to see the results for between 6 and 15 months after treatment.

Is this treatment right for me?

These treatments are an excellent option if you are looking to restore or create volume or structure to your face, reduce the appearance of lines, wrinkles or folds in specific areas, or are looking to achieve complete facial rejuventation.

They can also be used to enhance the shape of the chin and jaw, smooth the jowls, and soften under eye hollows known as ‘tear troughs’.

Before receiving the treatment you will be invited to undergo a thorough consultation, identifying your objectives and your suitability for the treatment. There are very few contraindications to dermal fillers, but you cannot receive a treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and should let your practitioner know if you have any skin infections (including cold sores) or allergies. There are some medications that may increase the likelihood of bruising after treatment, so it will be essential for your practitioner to see a list of your current medication before treatment.
